ok so i went down a jackie chan rabbit hole and his real life is more insane than his movies. did you know his real name isnt even chan? story time.
the real name thing
his family name is actually fang. his dad ditched his wife and two sons in anhui back in like 1947, ran to hong kong, wiped his whole identity and remarried. never told jackie anything. jackie grew up as "chan kong-sang" and only found out his actual surname in like 2001, when he was almost 50. then in 2004 he renamed his own son from chan to fang to carry the real family name. wild.

then a producer named wu siyuan borrows him for a new movie and tells him to go get double eyelid surgery first. so in 77 jackie gets his eyelids cut, and then he explodes. snake in the eagle's shadow, drunken master, global superstar. people in hk literally say the surgery "opened his fortune". bro became one of the biggest stars on earth because of his eyelids.
